The practitioner will learn to visualize each step in advance in order to achieve the desired appearance and function of the dentures.  Streamlined impression techniques will be taught as well as the ability to specify proper denture teeth placements, recognize and correct errors introduced by uninformed lab technicians and place complete control of the denture process where it belongs – in the hands of the dentist.

Here's What Past Attendees Have Said About This Speaker:

"I think your first name is spelled incorrectly...it should be "Diamond" instead of "Damon"...your lecture was full of brilliant light!"
               – Dr. Jacques C.

"Dr. Adams gave the utmost impressive course I have ever been to.  His knowledge on the latest materials and uses left me with an understanding of the many choices I have and how I can go back and use them."
               – Dr. Maria Witkowich, Yorktown, NY

"Dr. Adams is a very accomplished and knowledgeable speaker who teaches in a down to earth style."
               – Dr. Jameela Maret, Sicklerville, NJ

"Let me honestly tell you that your lecture was the best I saw (in Chicago), including Rella Christensen's.  You cruised through a lot of great points without belaboring over any too long, you were light hearted without trying to be a comedian, unlike Reynolds who became hard to sit through, and you had a complete grasp of your information. You challenged us to know more about our dental materials without being condescending."
               – Dr. T. Northway

"Excellent.  The material was presented in a very exciting manner."
               – Dr. Dave Snyder, Linden, NJ

"Wow!! I'm so glad that I got to sit in on your seminar!

In my opinion, you are a world class speaker with an oh-so-relevant choice of material to cover.  Your delivery is relaxed and engaging…..with just enough humor thrown in. Your material should be mandatory to the profession (you should know that I am a CE junky of sorts and have sat through zillions of presentations). You're a head-liner!"
               – Dr. "Marty" G

"I really liked that Dr. Adams not only talked about the types of ceramics and the advantages and uses of each but also gave everyday tips that we could use in the office."
               – Dr. Margaret Murray-Sobers, Plainfield, NJ

"The obvious difference between YOU and many others is the way you CONNECT with the audience on a PERSONAL level, not conducting your lecture like a business transaction."
               – Dr. B. McArdle

"I REALLY enjoyed your presentation! It was truly enlightening to learn more about the different types of ceramics that there are available for crowns and to have them organized.  I look forward to going through the notes again just to get a better understanding of each. I have been very uncomfortable about using full-contour zirconia crowns and was relieved to see that my concerns were appropriate.  It was good to learn when and where they can be used, and to use them with caution. Some of my colleagues are using them on all of their posterior crowns, because they are "indestructible", and because they cost less.  That makes me so uncomfortable, as they don't seem to share the same concerns when I voice them.  I find that sad, I feel like we should be assessing what is best for each patient and I feel that you addressed that point so well in the seminar."
               – Dr. K. Z

"Convenient location and dates offered by NJHPDI.  Dr. Adams has a wealth of knowledge to offer about restorative materials."
               – Dr. Louis Zazzaro, Jersey City, NJ

"I liked Dr. Adam's passion, expertise and commitment to answer all types of questions."

          Objectives of Workshop:
To present a predictable and reproducible root canal therapy that reduces post treatment failure rates and enhances long term tooth prognosis.

          Description of Workshop:
Discusses areas of tooth anatomy that can create endodontic problems and how new concepts in access design, dentine conservation, and file techniques can remedy these short comings.

          Description of Workshop Content:

This workshop will describe how to perform root canals in such a way that patients receive a long-term treatment option focusing on the preservation of vital tooth structure to reduce post-treatment failure rates.

Discussion will include how anatomic danger zones and tooth anatomy can effect rotary file design selection and techniques. Subtle and not-so-subtle areas of tooth anatomy which can create problems for the dentist will be outlined. New rotary file design parameters and root canal file techniques that compensate for these areas will be discussed.

Current, pertinent, and professional literature that is fundamental to the successful practice of endodontics will be discussed. This will include a thorough discussion concerning access, rotary file design, instrumentation techniques, and various obturation options.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will have obtained specialist knowledge and an understanding of how various endodontic procedures and dentin conservation techniques could contribute to a predictable, reproducible therapy which enhances the long-term prognosis of the tooth.

          Hands-on Portion of
          Workshop:

The hands-on session allows participants to experience modern root canal access and shaping techniques using rotary and hand instruments engineered for dentine conservation.  Exercises will compare traditional and modern instrumentation techniques that either compromise or strengthen remaining tooth structure.

During the hands-on session participants will learn and have the opportunity to:

               • Identify key zones of mutual interest to the endodontic specialist and restorative dentist during
                 root canal access and preparation.

               • Utilize new descriptive terms for endodontic instrumentation applicable to modern endodontic
access preps and dentin conservation techniques.

               • Apply modern instrumentation techniques that preserve the pulp horn and peri-cervical zones
of dentin to conserve the inherent strength of the tooth.

               • Experience how instrument choices influence root canal access and shape preparation.

               • Discover how endodontic access and preparation techniques impact long-term
                 restorative success.

            Course Description:

Implants and esthetic bridges require atraumatic extractions. The emphasis of this presentation is on routine extractions that become more difficult than expected

            The presentation will cover:

            • Advanced instruments and procedures as taught in modern oral surgery residency
            • How to avoid or manage many common complications, such as bleeding problems with patients on anticoagulants
            • Managing infections

Single extraction expertise will be taken to the next level for socket preservations, multiple extractions with alveoplasty, frenectomies, exostosis removal and other minor dentoalveolar procedures.

This course will enable the general dentist to:

            • Broaden the range of surgery procedures done in the office
            • Better avoid or treat common surgical complications
            • Do surgery procedures more quickly and predictably
            • More clearly understand surgical "standards of care"
            • Have a better grasp of what surgery procedures need to be referred
            • Do socket bone grafts according to current, commonly used techniques

            Hands-On Portion:

The hands-on portion will be performed on life-like dentoform models, performing surgery procedures that are a prelude to doing them on patients. The principles and techniques from the discussion will be realistically implemented on the models.

The following will be performed on the models during the Hands-On portion:

            • Surgical extractions
            • Socket preservation with bone graft material and barrier membrane
            • Partial bony impactions performed with flap reflection
            • Bone removal to avoid sensitive anatomic structure
            • Preventing a dry socket
            • Multiple extractions followed by alveoplasty and continuous-lock suturing
            • Other minor oral surgery procedures

This course will enable you to:

            • Go back to the office with superior knowledge
            • Have a solid feel for soft tissue incisions, bone removal and placement of bone graft material
            • Know first-hand how various surgical materials are used and/or manipulated
            • Receive one-on-one instruction and feedback on a number of procedures
            • Understand what current "standards of care" are regarding several surgeries commonly done in a general practice

            Course Description:

Candidates who successfully complete the course will receive a Continuing Education Certificate from both NJHPDI and Dr. Robert Convissar in Dental Lasers recognized by the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD), an international organization with more than 1200 members in over 25 countries. Our course will give you the qualifications necessary to take the ALD Certification exam, laserdentistry.com, in order to obtain the Standard Proficiency Certification from the ALD.

Since 1990, the U.S. Food and Drug administration has approved the use of seven different wavelengths for dental use. These different wavelengths create a world of difference in how the lasers operate, and their usefulness in the oral cavity.

The lectures on both days will detail laser use in the following subject matters:

                 • Surgical and non-surgical periodontal therapy

                 • Implantology

                 • Fixed and removable prosthetics

                 • Oral medicine / oral surgery / oral pathology

                 • Pediatric and adolescent operative dentistry

                 • Endodontics Practice management / marketing

            Hands-On Portion:

The workshops will give each participant a hands-on experience with the various wavelengths by performing surgical procedures on in-vitro models and pig jaws. Real time videos of routine laser procedures will be part of the in-depth discussion of specific instrument settings and techniques for laser surgical procedures.

            RESULTS:

At the conclusion of the course, the participant will be familiar with the various wavelengths used, their effects on oral tissues, and their uses for specific oral diseases and pathologies found in everyday practice. They will be able to incorporate this knowledge into their practices first thing Monday morning.

            Course Description:

Each year in the US, millions of teeth are extracted due to conditions such as caries, trauma and advanced periodontal disease Extraction site grafting and ridge preservation procedures offer significant advantages to the patient and the dental practice, but many dentists still aren’t taking advantage of the benefits these procedures offer to their patients.

Tooth extraction without concomitant socket grafting results in osseous deformities of the alveolar ridge, such as reduced height and width. This makes subsequent management of aesthetics and implant placement very challenging. Socket grafting using a bone graft substitute has been shown to significantly reduce the bone loss, better maintain the ridge dimensions and enhance the clinician’s ability to provide esthetically and functionally satisfying restorations at a later time.

This course will help you understand site development principles and bone grafting protocols leading to the optimal foundation for esthetics and implant success. Attendees will gain the skill sets necessary to achieve predictable hard tissue augmentation and work with grafting materials in a hands-on setting.

            HANDS-ON PORTION:

Performed on pig jaws from extraction, preparation placement of bone grafts
            • Principle of successful hard tissue augmentation

With the addition of orthodontics and surgery, it again developed into a large multi-specialty group. Feiler Dental Associates has had ten different offices located over the years in both NJ and NY, and presently is a multi-specialty, multi-location group practice, with 40 total staff employed, including 3 locations, 10 dentists and 7 hygienists all in northern NJ. He presently limits his personal practice to difficult and unusual cases, oral health, mentoring, practice administration and development.

A graduate of Rutgers College as well as the Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dental Medicine, where he later taught prosthodontics and oral diagnosis, he has written and continues to write articles on all aspects of dentistry. This has expanded into founding and directing the New Jersey Health Professionals Development Institute (NJHPDI).

            Course Description:

The T-Scan Computerized Occlusal Analysis technology records and displays occlusal contact force and timing data which occurs during functional mandibular movements. It accurately maps occlusal forces for the clinician, which eliminates incorrect occlusal contact selection that routinely occurs when articulating paper is subjectively interpreted. The T-Scan replaces inaccurate clinician subjectivity with objective occlusal force data that the clinician uses to guide occlusal treatment.

In this presentation Dr. Robert Kerstein, the leading user of the T-Scan for the past 30 years, will explain the many ways he uses the T-Scan in his dental practice on a daily basis. He will detail how to both save money, and make money, with the T-Scan. Existing T-Scan users are encouraged to bring their T-Scan with them, to improve their clinical recording technique and better understand the T-Scan’s software capabilities, to properly apply it in more daily patient procedures.

Computerized Occlusion topics to be discussed:

               • The articulating paper mark challenge - How inaccurately dentists choose high and low
force contacts when judging articulating paper markings.

                Objectives of Workshop:

To provide a full understanding of the relationship between endodontics and long term tooth prognosis.

Description of Workshop:  Discusses using a lecture and hands-on format on how to preserve tooth structure when rendering endodontic therapy in order to achieve better long term restorative prognosis.

                Description of Workshop Content:

Restorative treatment is the cornerstone of dental practice, and conservation of tooth structure is the key to better long-term prognosis. This course will discuss using a lecture and hands-on format on how to achieve better, easier and less stressful restorative and endodontic treatment. As endodontics is restorative driven, preservation of tooth structure when rendering endodontic therapy, provides the basis for successful restoration of that tooth. Restoration of endodontically treated teeth with conservative direct restorations, core buildups, post/cores and the importance of restorative ferrule will be reviewed, as well as clarify what materials are best selected for different clinical situations to create better long-term treatment.

Issues that will be explored include:

                     1. Full understanding of the relationship between endodontics and the long-term retention of the tooth.

                     2. Endo vs. Implants: treatment planning decisions, when to treat endodontically and when to treat

Apical Surgery vs. Implants: To Pull or Not To Pull (SUNDAY) Presenter: Daniel Pompa, DDS AGD Coding Date: Sunday, May 31, 2015 CE Credits: 4 Time: 9:00am - 1:00pm AGD Code: 071 Subject: Surgical Endodontics Lecture *Breakfast Included Location: 1060 Main Street, Suite 201, River Edge, NJ 07661

                  Course Description:

This course will describe the indications and contraindications, for performing or referring a patient for Apical Surgery. With the correct history, radiographic and clinical evaluation, the decision to perform an Apicoectomy will be weighed against further evaluation, a retreatment option, or extraction. Then a decision is more accurately made as to whether an implant or Fixed Bridge (Fixed Partial Prosthesis), a Removable Prosthesis (Fixed or Transitional Temporary Prosthesis), or doing nothing would be the final treatment plan offered to the patient. The specific workup (checklist) is frequently overlooked, leading to a less than ideal outcome. This course discusses and reviews all options when a tooth is ailing or failing.

                  Learning Objectives:

Upon the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

                       • Learn the radiographic technique to use when evaluating a tooth for fracture

                       • List the seven step workup consisting of procedures and tests that should be used when
performing, or referring a patient for an apicoectomy.

                       • Understand the principles of GTM, and know the indications for the final prognosis.

                       • Recognize that the location of a fistula is the key critical diagnostic indicator for the final prognosis.

                       • Identify the signs to differentiate between endo/perio defect vs. perio/endo defect, and to
understand the difference with respect to the prognosis.

This presentation will describe the "Evolution of Endodontic Technique" beginning with basic biologic principles and concluding with new methodology to make your endodontics better and more efficient.

The lecture segment will concentrate on three areas.

                        • How to incorporate new material science, such as bioceramic technology into your practice
                        • How to perform root canal therapy in such a manner that you actually enhance
the long-term prognosis of the tooth
                        • Understanding the Endo-Restorative Continuum and its implications for your practice

The goal of this program is to have all dentists learn how to perform exceptional endodontics in such a manner that they do not destroy the tooth in the process. Real World Endo remains committed to the preservation of the natural dentition as an alternative to implants.

Included in the lecture component will be:

                        • a thorough discussion concerning access
                        • non- surgical ultrasonic use
                        • rotary file design
                        • instrumentation techniques
                        • a new bioceramic obturation method

Particular emphasis will be placed on developing endodontic synchronicity (a matching system) between a machined preparation and a laser verified master bioceramic coated cone. Additionally, a new obturation technique (Synchronized Hydraulic Condensation) will be introduced and all participants will have the opportunity to validate these concepts during the hands-on session.

                        HANDS-ON PORTION:

The hands-on session provides the participants the opportunity to use "Real World " techniques and to  witness first-hand, how they will change the way they practice endodontics.

During this lecture/hands-on participants will learn:

                             1. How to create straight-line access that will expedite the endodontic process

                             2. Discover how endodontics can be precision-based

                             3. The importance of preserving coronal radicular dentin

                             4. How to "machine" or "mill" an endodontic preparation

                             5. The benefits of developing "endodontic synchronicity" between a machined
                                 preparation and a master cone

                             6. The multiple advantages of performing a constant .04 taper preparation

                             7. Learn the new "synchronized hydraulic condensation" technique featuring the use of
                                 bioceramic technology

                             8. How best to restore an endodontically treated tooth

                             9. The multiple benefits of Piezo Electric Ultrasonics

                             10. Most importantly of all, how to perform endodontics in such a manner that you do not
compromise the long-term retention of the tooth. In fact, learn how to do endodontics
so that you actually enhance the long-term prognosis of the tooth

For the Ultimate Real World Experience, attendees are encouraged to bring two to four extracted,  accessed teeth.
Optional: Attendees are encouraged to bring their current rotary instrumentation system for comparative endodontic techniques (bring at least one or two, size 25 tip rotary files from their current system.

                        Course Description:

Have you noticed the new reimbursement challenges that began in 2014? Crowns with and without buildups not being approved like they used to? Now with every D4341 they want radiographs and periodontal charts and then they pay it at D4342. Get ready, because it’s going to get a lot tougher before it gets any easier. Better yet – get prepared for tomorrow’s world of changing reimbursement systems.

This full day workshop will provide for you a comprehensive overview of the skills and information needed to cope with as well as profit from market changes. Learn to work with and understand the patient’s benefit plan restrictions and limitations. Even if your office doesn’t accept the insurance assignment, you shouldn’t ignore this critical component of “Value Added” customer service while you streamline and simplify the reimbursement process.

In addition, the workshop will provide for you the basic skills and information needed to cope with, as well as profit from market changes. Benefit plan provisions, limitations, exclusions and carve outs of coverage can have a direct correlation with the patient accepting comprehensive treatment. Learn to work with and understand the patients plan.

As concerns coding, CDT was supposed to make our lives easier. During the day we will focus on the most common, as well as challenging sections of the coding sequence. Clinical scenarios will be discussed from both the clinical as well as the administrative perspectives. Appropriate coding and clinical documentation will take the mystique (as well as headache) out of the entire reimbursement process.

The day will conclude with Tom’s “Seven Keys to Reimbursement Success.” Over the years, its strength, as well as flexibility proves to be a winning strategy for every dental office.

For the better part of almost 40 years, the Limoli’s have guided dental offices and the various components of the benefit industry in streamlining and simplifying the overall reimbursement process. Their straightforward and direct approach has been embraced and implemented in thousands of practices across the country. The width and depth of Tom’s knowledge and perspective make for a uniquely refreshing educational experience.

                              Hiossen’s CAS-Kit
In the posterior maxilla, a residual bone height is limited by the presence of the sinus and often plays a key factor for the placement of dental implants. The CAS-Kit makes crestal sinus lifts simple and predictable by eliminating the usage of mallet and the risk or chance of perforation by using stoppers and the hydraulic lifter.

                              Hiossen’s LAS-Kit
Hiossen’s Lateral Approach Sinus Kit (LASK) is specifically designed for a fast and safe lateral approach to graft bone, lifting the sinus membrane. The LASK offers various usages depending on the oral anatomy and surgical plane.

The LASK contains a dome drill to create a lateral window, a wide dome drill to widen the window and a core drill that can create a core bone lid which can be used to seal the window without additional membrane. The LASK consists of:

                                   • Dome and Core drills to create a lateral window
                                   • Stopper system to prevent excessive and over drilling
                                   • Dome drill that allows for exceptional cutting ability through the combined use of macro
                                      and micro blades

                                   • Core drill, which allows for a continued successful design concept of the CAS drills
                                   • Wide dome drill and side wall drill to enlarge the window

                              This course will discuss:

                                   1.  Sinus Anatomy

                              Course Description:

A large segment of our older population is aging successfully, but a smaller percentage, the frail elderly, have significant challenges, including dementia, polypharmacy, hyposalivation, psychosocial changes and more.  These can impact dental treatment planning, preventive strategies, and care management.  Dementia is complex and extends through stages, from mild cognitive impairment to late stages with significantly diminished function.  Through slides and video, we will review best practices in communication with the patient with dementia, including those who demonstrate care resistant behavior.  We will also review some common medications of the frail elder, and in what ways we must make modifications to dental care, including before and during treatment, and home care. Treatment planning “ideally” may not always be appropriate with the frail elder---we will discuss in this presentation both the strategies for decision making and determining when and how to seek a surrogate to play a role in the consent process.  Ample time will be provided for discussion regarding challenges that attendees are seeing with their older patients.

Learning Objectives: Following the presentation, the learner should be able to:

                                   • List both normal-age related changes and disease-related changes which could affect
oral health and the provision of dental care

                                   • Define dementia, list four different types, and describe how Alzheimer’s disease
is expressed. Review how dental providers can modify communication for
                                     improved success.

                                   • Discuss differences between nursing home and assisted living, which is appropriate for

In clinical practice, what at first seems routine, often isn’t. Patients can present with situations far from ideal and yet we are called upon to treat them. This presentation will take you on a journey with multiple patients who easily could have shown up in your office.

Diagnosis, treatment planning, case presentations, and finally, how excellent results were obtained even with less than desirable beginnings will be discussed.  This is real-life dentistry that we all have to deal with in our practices.

                              Morning Lecture:
We’ll cover many recent advances in aesthetic and restorative dentistry.  We will demystify some of the newer composite and adhesive materials we have available.  We’ll discuss the basic principles of Aesthetic Dentistry and how to create beautiful, natural looking anterior and posterior tooth colored restorations predictably, successfully, and easier than ever.  Predictability leads to lower stress levels, higher profits, and happier patients.

                              You will learn:

Patients with periodontal disease often struggle between office visits, and it is no wonder why; toothbrushes, rinses and floss fall short in pockets deeper than 3mm. Give your patients a more effective option with prescription tray delivery of peroxide deep into periodontal pockets. Research shows that this delivery combined with SRP leads to more significant pocket depth and bleeding reductions than SRP alone. Attend this presentation to learn the science behind the delivery and its practical implementation.

                                    Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, you should

                                         • Identify the benefits and limitations of antimicrobial and mechanical therapies
                                           for biofilm management.

                                         • Know how and why antimicrobials with oxidative/reduction reactions help manage biofilms

                                         • Understand how to incorporate antibiofilm therapies into existing treatment plans.

                                      About the Speaker:
                                      Duane Keller, DMD, FAGD

When Dr. Duane C. Keller discovered how well the Perio Tray® delivery of medication worked with his own patients, he originally thought the antibiotics delivered in the custom trays were at least as effective as the peroxide gel he prescribed. After all, science clearly showed that antibiotics were the answer to bacterial infections. Except….when they weren’t. Antibiotics placed in pockets without peroxide rarely healed as well. Duane studied the problem from a microbiology perspective and collaborated with leading specialists so that dental microbiology became the basis of his periodontal treatment protocols. Dr. Keller graduated from Washington University School of Dental Medicine and has maintained a successful private practice in St. Louis, MO since 1976. In addition to general dentistry, Dr. Keller works with physicians and physical therapists to provide non-surgical treatment for TMD patients in chronic pain. As the Chief Scientific Officer for Perio Protect, LLC and a former educational officer for the I.A.O., Dr. Keller has been lecturing to national and international audiences for over twenty years. He has published more than 35 articles in professional journals, most recently an article in The Journal of Clinical Dentistry, and has patented numerous dental appliances and treatment methodologies. In 2004, the FDA cleared his Perio Tray® for the placement of solutions in periodontal pockets.

Are you frustrated from the lack of consistent results?

The world of dental ceramics can be difficult to navigate. Drawing from his on-going reach in the physical properties of dental ceramics, Dr. Volker takes the attendee from treatment planning and sequencing to cementation and maintenance in this comprehensive course.

This course aims to explain the proper selection criteria and usage of ceramic materials and
ancillary components. Attendees will participate in hands-on preparation, impression, fabrication
and cementation of an indirect ceramic restoration. Additionally, effective communication with the
                                      dental laboratory will be discussed.

Clinicians will receive the tools and protocols need to ensure predicable esthetic and
                                      functional results.
