This course features a comprehensive update in Pediatric Dentistry. For example, attendees will learn the current concepts in the causes and dental implications of the alarming increase in pediatric asthma, ADHD, autism, and late preterm births. A new topic that has been added is new psychological insights and research on Behavior Guidance. Participants will learn the latest concepts in caries formation and prevention as well as how to perform a CAMBRA caries risk assessment. A discussion will include Indirect Pulp Caps and MTA/Biodentine pulpotomies. The topic of Restorative dentistry includes new designs in tooth preparation, the indications for Silver Diamine Fluoride, and when to use GIC and RMGI’s. Participating clinicians will be able to use these treatment modalities in everyday clinical practice.
At the conclusion of this course, participants will learn:
- The latest in Caries Formation and how to do a Caries Risk Assessment
- How using Xylitol, Fluoride Varnish, MI Paste, Chlorhexadine, sealants, and Silver Diamine Fluoride are effective preventive measures
- Techniques using MTA, Biodentine, and the new Biosilicates for pulp therapy in primary teeth
- The latest techniques, indications, and materials used in direct and indirect pulp capping in primary and permanent teeth.
- Indications and how to use Glass Ionomer Cements as a restorative material in Primary teeth
- Updates in pediatric medicine including the dental implications for the increase in Autism, preterm births and ADHD.
- The latest Psychology studies and techniques for effective behavior management
About the Speaker
Lance Kisby DMD, FASDC, FAGD, FAAPD, MAGD
Dr. Kisby is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. After completing his Residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Floating Hospital at New England Medical Center in Boston, MA, Dr. Kisby was Chief of Pediatric Dentistry and Assistant Director of Dentistry at R.I. Hospital in Providence, RI. He then went on to spend 17 years in private practice in Massachusetts until he accepted the position of Chief of Pediatric Dentistry at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT. He has been Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry since 1983, was a former Contributing editor to the Journal of Clinical Pediatric Dentistry, he has multiple publications, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry as well as a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Kisby had created two Pediatric Dental Residencies, one in Danville, PA and the second in Wilmington, DE, where he was Program director of both programs. Dr. Kisby is a Clinical Instructor in Pediatric Dentistry at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He is currently the staff Pediatric Dentist at the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians in Lac du Flambeau, WI with the IHS. Dr. Kisby has over 40 years of clinical and teaching experience thus bringing new and exciting techniques and insights to those dentists and staff who treat children.
